You may say we're BONKERS!
In the summer of 2018, Dizzee Rascal met me in the studio for the first time. We had wanted to collaborate for many months, but our schedules didn't fit. But we talked on the phone about the beats and sounds we wanted to explore together. A real Ibiza clubbing track. Yes, to make money! But also to catapult us into the big time. Back some years, Dizzee was a well-known rapper from London, but not the world-wide phenomenon he is today. I was working in clubs across Europe but wanted to bring my music to bigger audiences. Three months in DR's studio and we came out with the perfect track. My beats. His lyrics. It was gold! We knew it would sell, but we needed someone to give us the heads up. Dizzee himself put in a lot of money to make this work - it had to go well - the amount was ..... BONKERS! So, we hope you enjoy and that you come back for more! This, as they say, is just the beginning ... |

VIDEO DIRECTOR AND PRODUCER Marcus is an award-winning video director and producer, with his own London-based company, Whatever FloatsYerBoat Productions. "He's big and hard, but actually, he's a sweetheart!" (Dizzee Rascal 2017) Marcus and Dizzee have worked together extensively, for the last 10 years on videos including "Fix Up Look Sharp" and "Big Fat Stinking Bass". "I wanted to make sure that this video captured the club-feel that Dizzee and Armand were going for. We looked at how the cinematography and rise-en-scene could best project those heady summer nights when the music takes over and you can't remember what happened the next morning. Some of the footage is taken at Pacha, Ibiza, but we also wanted to reflect how those crazy summer days stay with you, by placing that character on his local, UK beach, still longing for the summer nights." |
We'd like to thank the following key individuals in the making of this award-winning video. |
TAYLOR SINDALL & CAMERON FERRERO-MACKENZIE
ACTORS Marcus didn't want to detract from the song, by casting known actors. His selected the two actors from his own company - 2 tea boys who had worked with the company for 5 years, starting at the bottom with the aim of making it to the top in the music industry. They deserved a break! It also meant that Marcus could continue his Everyman feel and make sure that the audience could relate to the characters - it could be them. Luckily, both boys, being young, knew the club scene and what it entailed, and were huge fans of Dizzee. They felt totally at home in Pacha, and could easily convey the confused emotions of the morning after a heavy night out. |
